Keith Monks Loudspeakers Product Range

Keith Monks line source column loudspeakers have been in production for over 20 years and are still hand-crafted in the U.K. to the highest standards.

Keith Monks line source column loudspeakers installed in church

The loudspeakers are designed for sound reinforcement applications, to solve the most demanding sound problems in areas with almost impossibly difficult acoustics. Designed primarily for use in churches, they are equally at home in any venue with similar acoustic difficulties such as theatres, halls, sports arenas and any areas where high ceilings and hard structural surfaces prevent the use of a regular public address system. Feedback is drastically reduced and optimum clarity over long distances can be achieved.

As standard, the cabinets are finished in a real light-oak veneer with the baffle finished in an off-white fine woven cloth, which blends in well with light coloured stonework and plaster found in most churches. An alternative finish is a black cabinet with black cloth which provides a handsome appearance for any interior. Other finishes can be supplied to special order.

Installation is simple - with the two-part assembly unbolted, the rear cabinet is fixed to the wall, then the baffle assembly is bolted back on. This not only takes care of situations where weight may be an issue, but also reduces the likelihood of soiling the light-coloured cloth with finger marks.

Keith Monks line source column loudspeakers have been approved by Diocesan Advisory Committees (DACs) across the United Kingdom for installation in Listed churches.

Why sound reinforcement?

True line source speakers should have a precisely calculated sound radiation pattern, cancelling out stray mid and high frequencies above and below the projected fan shaped field of sound. Coupled with specially designed drive units, plus frequency correcting internal electronics, this has the effect of reducing feedback inherent in buildings with bad acoustics - churches being the best example with their high ceilings and stone walls. Contoured baffles, with slotted cut-outs for enhanced horizontal coverage, allow the sound to penetrate over long distances, actually providing increased sound reinforcement and level equalisation, the further you are from the loudspeaker itself! In practice, it is almost impossible to detect any change in volume level from the front to the rear of the room. When mounted above the area where a person is speaking, even listeners furthest away can hear every whisper coming from that direction, and with such clarity that often people believe they are hearing the natural voice. Such loudspeakers form the basis of a true sound reinforcement system and the Keith Monks line source column loudspeakers meet all the specifications.
