Each system comprises an interpreter’s microphone, an infrared radiator (with preamplifier) and infrared receivers.
 
The preamplifier has all the connections that are ever likely to be needed and including an (optional) integrated radio microphone receiver.

The preamplifier has the following facilities:
Slave output for connecting a “Booster” extension radiator
DC input for connecting power supply unit
Line output for connecting to the input of an external device. e.g. mp3 digital recorder
Line input for connecting to the output of an external device. e.g. sound system or video conference system

A radio handheld microphone and digital radio system are also available. All microphones have a mute “cough” switch.

Sennsis handheld radio microphone system

The interpreter’s voice is then transmitted by the radiator around the room in the form of infrared (invisible) light. As this light cannot penetrate walls this can provide complete confidentiality*.

The pre-amplifier and radiators are mounted on a telescopic table stand and are adjustable to ensure even coverage of infrared light throughout the room. Systems are available to cover areas from 80 to 400 square meters.

Sennsis P-320 simultaneous interpretation system

Receivers are used by the delegates to convert the infrared signal to audio. All Sennsis infrared systems are compatible with the new Sennheiser HDI 830 receiver (left and centre) and the Sennheiser RI 150 receiver (right) as used by many organisations and councils. A neck loop receiver for use by hearing aid wearers is also available.

Both types of receiver use rechargeable batteries and are charged in charging racks. The lightweight receivers are easy to use. The HDI 830 automatically switches ON when placed on the ears (and switches OFF when removed to preserve battery life). The delegate then adjusts the volume to suit themselves using the ergonomic dial on the front. With a battery life of up to 12 hours it will easily last even the longest event!

Sennsis portable infrared systems use Sennheiser state-of-the-art infrared technology, yet are designed to be “plug and play” with no user controls. Each system can be easily set up by non-technical users without any prior experience of the equipment.

Each system is supplied with a custom protective storage case with retractable handle and wheels (to enable it to be towed like a suitcase). The storage case will comfortably hold any Sennsis portable infrared translation system with space for the other optional accessories available.
